Welcome to the
website of the Carteret
County Amateur Radio Society!
Our club callsign
is W4YMI. We are located on the inner banks of North
Carolina's beautiful Crystal Coast, in Newport, North
Carolina. Our club was organized in 1992 as a 501(c)(3)
non-profit organization for the purpose of furthering radio knowledge,
fraternalism, and individual operating efficiency, and to conduct
club programs and activities so as to advance the general interest and
welfare of Amateur Radio in the "down east"
community.
Our regularly scheduled
business meeting is held on the fourth Saturday of each month at Cox's
Family Restaurant at 4109 Arendell Street in Morehead City.
Everyone is welcome to join us as a guest or as a member!
Click on "Membership
Info" under "About
Us" on the menu at the top of this page for a PDF
membership application and send it to us, and we’ll make sure you
are added to our membership roster right away. Our current
membership dues are only $25 per year.
All persons interested in
Amateur Radio communications are eligible for membership in the
Carteret County Amateur Radio Society. If you are not
currently a licensed amateur radio operator, but would like to become
one, we offer in-person license examinations immediately after our business meeting and can help you
achieve your goal. Our club boasts over 100 years of combined
amateur radio experience, and our members are eager to share their
knowledge and help new members with all aspects of the amateur radio
hobby. Whether your interest in amateur radio is emergency
communication volunteering, CW (morse code), building and experimenting
with radio technology, or just fraternal comaraderie, Carteret County Amateur Radio Society
has you covered.
We invite all licensed Amateur
Radio Operators in the down east area to check into our Tuesday evening
Net on our K4GRW (145.450) or W3ENK (444.825) repeaters in Newport, NC.
Guests are always welcome! Please join in!
If you are a new ham, you are especially invited to check in
and ragchew with us and learn more about our organization and how to
become a
part of the down
east Ham radio community.
